New Year’s Day Stabbing Results When Man Tries To Prevent Intoxicated Couple From Driving With Child

Attempted murder charges issued

A Leoma man sustained multiple stab wounds on New Year’s Day when he attempted to prevent an inoxicated couple from driving away with a child.

A press release issued through the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department Thursday morning shows that deputies were dispatched on an assault call to 11 Rabbit Trail Road.

When they arrived, they report finding that Randall Charles Davis, age 32, had sustained multiple stab wounds, yielding serious injuries.

Air Evac was summoned to the scene and Davis was airlifted to Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville where he was listed in stable condition.

Officials report that during the course of their investigation they determined that Davis’ wounds had been inflicted by thirty-one year old Mario Estrada.

The altercation reportedly resulted when Davis refused to allow Estrada and Crystal Carranza, 23, to leave the residence with a child while they were intoxicated.

After the stabbing occurred, they report that Estrada and Carranza fled from the scene.

Authorities quickly issued a BOLO (be on the lookout) alert to local and surrounding law enforcement agencies for the couple’s van.

They report that shortly afterwards both were taken into custody by authorities with the Maury County Sheriff’s Office. They were arrested in that county on separate and additional charges.

Local authorties requested that a hold be placed on the couple. They issued warrants charging Estrada with attempted second degree murder and Carranza with being an accessory after the fact.

Both will be returned to Lawrence County at a later date where they will be required to answer the charges through General Sessions Court.
